Followup Regarding the Box Art...
by Kevin Stange @ 12:52 AM EDT
While I was visiting Maxis, they gave us all these nifty CD-ROMs with "SimCity 4 Assets" on them. In response to Rand's post about the box art, here is a high-resolution image for your enjoyment!

I'm still looking for that Maxis logo that belongs in the bottom right corner of the box. Hopefully we'll see that on the final product.

As soon as I get a bit of free time, I still intend to write up some articles about what I saw at that friendly software studio in Walnut Creek.

Please note: The box art image may take a while to download for dialup users. Please be patient.

SimCity 4's box cover design released
by Rand Huck @ 8:59 PM EDT
Maxis has just made SimCity 4's box design public. The only place I have seen it, however, was at SimCity Resource Center (Better known as sc3000.com) I'll be searching around for a larger resolution shot of it. The official site doesn't even have it yet.

[SimCity4] My Maxis Visit
by Kevin Stange @ 12:36 AM EDT
Maxis recently gave me the awesome opportunity to join them, as well as 4 other fan site webmasters, to meet with them in Walnut Creek for a SimCity 4 preview. This event was held on Wednesday.

I'm very excited to bring back some new, exclusive information (Well, exclusive to those of us that attended.) regarding SimCity 4. I will be bringing you some articles, hopefully, within the next few days, which outline some of what we discussed during our 2 hour meeting, as well as things that I saw in the actual 2 and a half hour play test session.

I wish to thank everyone at Maxis, especially Lucy, Joseph, Robin, and Lisa for helping to both coordinate the event and sit down and talk with us.

If you have any specific topics you'd like to see me focus an article on, please drop me an email, and I'll try to write something that ties in closely with that aspect of the game. If I don't know much about the topic, I'll see if I can glean some additional information from someone on the development team.

SimCity 4 site updated!
by Rand Huck @ 8:27 AM EDT
SimCity's official SimCity 4 site has been updated with more articles.

The first article, found here, by Paul Pedriana, gives us an indepth look at three different disasters that will be in the game, one of which wasn't there before (but was in SimCity 2000)

(I know, SimCity 3000 didn't have the meteors, but SimCity Unlimited did have the space junk disaster, which is close enough to what the meteors do.)

The second article, here, Christian Stratton gives us the dirt on how the SimCity 3000 and The Sims interfaces collide into "perfect harmony".

The third article, here, Paul Pedriana lets you explore SimCity 4 in what is called, "orthographic-trimetric" view.
