House Party Drops to 2nd

For the week of 5/6 to 5/12, The Sims: House Party Expansion Pack has been displaced from the top of the list by Myst 3 Exile. House Party is now sitting squarely in 2nd place with The Sims now in 4th, and Livin' Large in 7th. Here's how the rest of the list lined up:

3. Black & White
4. The Sims
5. Myst 3 Exile Collectors Ed
6. Tropico

House Party Still Topping Charts

For the week of 4/29 through 5/5, The Sims: House Party has managed to hold on to its position at the top of PC gaming charts, followed closely by Black & White, which has pulled above The Sims to capture 2nd place. Here's how the list rounded out:

1. The Sims House Party Expansion Pack
2. Black & White
3. The Sims
4. MP Roller Coaster Tycoon
5. The Sims Livin Large Expansion Pack
6. Tropico
7. Tribes 2
8. Microsoft Age Of Empires II: Age of Kings
9. Cossacks: European Wars

April 2001's stats are also in, with House Party in 1st, The Sims in 3rd, Livin' Large in 5th, SimThemePark in 7th, and SimCity 3000 Unlimited in 17th.

The Sims Online Website Launches

Though the official release is not planned until 2002, Maxis has launched the Sims Online website to provide news and promote the upcoming title. You can check it out here.

Also noteworthy is the SimsVille site, which has been updated for the first time in nearly a year. They removed some outdated links and added some news. (They also removed my link for some reason.) You can hop on over to check out the updates by clicking here.

Sid Meier teams up with Maxis

Sid Meier has teamed up with Will Wright and Maxis to bring you Sid Meier's SimGolf. Unlike it's predecessor, playing golf will not be your only chore. You'll be in charge of designing and creating the golf course of your dreams.

GameSpot has prepared a detailed preview of what you can expect from this upcoming game. Click here for your sneak peak!

EA's official SimGolf web site is already up here. The game is set to release this fall.

Maxis goes to E3 2001

Electronic Arts, like many gaming companies, got the opportunity to show off its best upcoming work at the Electronics Entertainment Expo which ran May 17-19th at the L.A. Convention Center.

For SimCity day, Maxis has put up a few photos of their two booths (The Sims, and SimsVille), as well as some other shots of the event. You can hop over to SimCity.com and take a look by clicking here.

Regarding our downtime over the past week, a hardware failure took down our network. Things should be totally back up and running now, and we'll get back to our job of posting your news.

Another One Bites the Dust

Sadly, citing time constraints and fading interest, Alex McKenzie has chosen to bring Sim Games Network's run to a close. He thanks various community members for their years of support.

Alex mentions that any articles featured at his site will be transferred over to to JMGames.net in the coming days.

Click here to take a look at Alex's farewell letter. His site, and his contribution to the community will be missed. We at SimPage.net wish him good luck in all his future endeavors.
