Not Now Becomes Not Ever for SimMars
by Kevin Stange @ 6:05 PM EDT
According to a recent interview with Will Wright conducted by The SimGamers' HeadQuarters, it now seems likely that SimMars will never be released. Production of the game was halted several months ago, in order to divert resources to The Sims, and to developing SimsVille, as well as other unannouced titles.

Regarding SimMars' release, Will Wright stated in the interview that, "it's unlikely it ever will be released."

ModernEmpire.com also reports that Maxis has been working on a new title which is related to the closed SimMars project and also has ties to SimLife and SimEarth.

[(default)] A Hello
by RickPierce @ 5:24 AM EDT
The name's Pierce, Rick Pierce. I will be posting news and other articles here for The Sim Page. While I'm new here, I'm not new to the community. I run and own the website Inside Maxis (www.imaxis.net), which covers Maxis games and the company in general. I am also a forumer at the Forums at sc3000.com, user name Rick Pierce. I've had my name listed in credits for games, which I'm really proud of, most notably SimCity 3000 Unlimited.

Other than that, I just wish to thank Kevin Stange for embracing me onto this project, I hope the rest of you will enjoy my zany antics and humor as well. I'll see you all around! :-)
[(default)] Site Outage
by Kevin Stange @ 3:51 AM EDT
You may have noticed that the site has been in different stages from down to dysfunctional over the past three days. We were having some severe server problems, that caused the site to first become inaccessible, then require a total restoration from a backup. As a result, some of our files and scripts may be "broken" or act a little odd.

We're back now, and everything seems to be working fairly well, after some reconfiguration and calibration, but please click here to let us know if you see something amiss, and we'll try to take care of it as soon as possible.

In other news, I'm going off to college, and will be in transit and moving in over the next three days, making this a really poor time for server problems. :-P During my absence, I'm sure my staff will continue to keep you posted on the latest news and information.

I'll let you all know when I get settled in up at my new school. See you all then!

by Rand Huck @ 10:35 AM EDT
Gamecenter has published a review of The Sims' new expansion pack, Livin Large, which should come out in about 3 weeks. They rate the game an 8 out of 10. While the new features are a great improvement, they say that some of the components are too challanging and frustrating. Click here to view the article

SimCity.com releases the SCURK for SimCity 3000
by Rand Huck @ 6:06 PM EDT
This time, the "URK" doesn't stand for "Urban Renewal Kit", but "Unlimited Rendering Kit". It will act just like the SimCity2000 Urban Renewal Kit, without the "Place and Print", as I understand. You will need an external graphics program to create the buildings. All the SCURK will do is render them for use with SimCity 3000 Unlimited. You can find it at SimCity.com by clicking here.

"Beth asks, what kind of a sim player are you?
by Rand Huck @ 5:55 PM EDT
Beth plays "simthropologist", and classifies sim players into 6 different parts. See what kind you are here. I must say, I would range between "turtle" and "conservative". ;-)

I would love to hear your responses as to where you would fit in.

Bugs reported on SimTransmogrifier
by Rand Huck @ 9:16 PM EDT
There have been reports of bugs in The Sims with certain user-created objects that were created with the SimTransmogrifier. Don Hopkins, who created SimTransmogrifer, has not experienced these bugs first hand, but does not deny that there might be problems with the program, and is looking into it.

Reports include crashes, sims getting "trapped" in using the object (he/she can't stop using it), and missing commands. Click here for more information.

blueprint Scheduled for August 27th Release
by Kevin Stange @ 12:54 PM EDT
Bil Simser reported today, that his previously announced blueprint release date of August 20th was an error on his part. He accidentally supplied the date on which testers would be received their copies of the application. He instead set the official public release to August 27, 2000.

He promises to have some new information up at his website soon, including some new screenshots and tutorials. You can check the site out here.

He would also like to know your thoughts on whether he should continue to develop his Art Editor now that Maxis has released their own application with the same purpose. If you'd like to comment, click here to email him.
