The Sims Deluxe Officially Announced
by Kevin Stange @ 2:26 PM EDT
Maxis has officially announced plans to release a Deluxe version of The Sims which will include all of the features from the first expansion pack, as well as some extra goodies. The release date is set for sometime in September 2002.

Among the more interesting goodies, is a tool called The Sims Creator, which will allow total customization of Sims like never before. Users will be able to customize clothing, add "accessories," and even import their own faces to be used on Sims.

The suggested retail price will be $39.99, which is less than the original price of the first release game, and about $10 more than an expansion pack, so it's a great deal for anyone starting with The Sims for the first time. Existing The Sims owners will be offered a $10 mail-in rebate for their purchase.

SimCity 4 August Update
by Kevin Stange @ 5:50 PM EDT
Maxis has updated their SimCity 4 web site with nine new screenshots, and four new articles.

The screenshots look amazing, showing you the remarkable natural setting and the style of the city itself.

On to the articles. Two of the articles discuss a bit of what goes on in SimCity 4's day-to-day development process. A third provides an explanation of the "My Sims" feature, and how it will help you manage your city. The fourth details the new options and capabilities of the new transportation system model.

If nothing else, I suggest you check out the screen shots, but the articles are well worth a read as well. Do check them out, if you have the chance!
